Dear Commissioners & County Staff,

Thank you for hearing your constituents and taking action on our behalf. For more than a year, stayTRU has been fighting to preserve the duly recorded Open Space of the Tatum Ridge Golf Links. You have protected our rights and we THANK YOU. We remain vigilant awaiting any next development proposal. Commissioner Knight's request to bring some clarity to the County's interpretation of the Live Local Act is smart. Thank you all for supporting his request.

The 1,000+ registered voters represented by stayTRU support efforts to bring Home Rule back home. The concept of Home Rule has been the most precious power available to local governments. When the 1973 Home Rule Powers Act formally revised the Florida constitution, it gave municipalities "...powers to enable them to conduct municipal government, perform municipal functions and render municipal services ..."

The Live Local Act passed in 2023 circumvents long standing local control over growth, zoning, and quality of life. While not the only afront to Home Rule, it is arguably the most egregious. Local issues are best resolved locally - that was true back in 1973 and is still true 53 years later.

Staytru supports all efforts to take local decision making out of the hands of Tallahassee and return it to local elected officials, where it belongs.
